Grandmaster In Hyuk Suh is the founder and president of the World Kuk Sool Won™ Association. Grandmaster Suh has trained in the martial arts for over 67 years. He received his first instruction at the age of five from his grandfather, Master Myung Duk Suh, the last General and Master Instructor of the Royal Court Palace. When Japan annexed Korea, they abolished the Royal Court Army and attempted to suppress virtually every aspect of Korean culture. An early death would come to anyone caught practicing or teaching traditional Korean martial arts.
Master Myung Duk Suh returned to his hometown in Kyung Sahng Province. There, while secretly compiling five books on Korea's traditional martial arts, he began instructing his grandson, In Huyk Suh. These five books cover the arts of Yu Sool, Yu Kwon Sool, Whal Bup, and Hyul Bup. Before he passed away, the old Master gave his grandson these five books as well as letters of appointment. These letters opened many closed doors and enabled the young Master Suh to travel throughout Korea and learn from some of the oldest and most famous Korean Masters. They taught him many of the hidden secrets of martial arts that have been refined over centuries.
In the late 1950s, after many years of travelling, training, research and compiling information, In Hyuk Suh began the monumental task of organizing and formulating the many scattered martial art techniques of Korea into a single system, which he named Kuk Sool. Officially founded as Kuk Sool Won™ in 1961, it is now Korea's largest organized martial art. In 1974 Grand Master Suh came to the United States and started teaching to the outside world. From this one school in San Francisco, the Kuk Sool Won™ Association has grown to over 1.3 million members in over 800 schools in 27 different countries around the world.
School Owner/Head Instructor – Monty Pinder
Mr. Pinder has been training in the Martial Arts for over 35 years and is a certified instructor and international judge. His three children are black belt instructors & and are also assistant master instructors. Our staff of certified black belt instructors is highly distinguished and devoted to Kuk Sool Won™. All are certified in CPR and first aid and have many years of experience in the martial arts. Several of our instructors are world champion competitors and have attained Grand Champion recognition at many events throughout North America.
